Seniors (aged 18yrs+)
A truly welcoming and inclusive running club, with a pursuit to bringing individuals from all walks of life together whilst supporting and encouraging growth and development in a positive direction. Our club provides the correct environment to ensure members can run, volunteer, socialise and contribute to local events and organisations.
With over 70+ current members, we have a great range of abilities, runners who are just starting out with walk/run, those who are running a sub 20min 5k, through to both marathon and ultra runners. TAC pride ourselves on helping and encouraging our members to achieve their running goals and sharing in their sense of achievement.
Seniors meet on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6.15pm, with a briefing before commencing at 6.30pm, with sessions varying in locations. These can be found on the booking APP.
In addition to the scheduled sessions, club members regularly meet for group social runs, just pop a post on the Facebook Page and you’ll soon be added to a group or two!
Free Trial – Try before you buy! The club offers 4 free training sessions to give you the opportunity to see if it’s something you’d like to do
What to bring & Wear – clothes that are comfortable for running in and weather appropriate. A drink is needed all year round; we sweat even when it’s -10! Footwear appropriate for grass and hard surface, no need to buy specialist running shoes. End of September is also the time of year where a headlight/chest light and Hi-Viz will be required for safety.
Races – There is no requirement for any member of the club to take part in a race, however we will fully support and encourage those that do.
There are a large number of races held throughout the year and both locally, nationally and worldwide that members take part in, with an added bonus when groups form and it becomes a social event too.
The club hosts the Breckland 10K in May, and we ask members (if available) to help on the day in some capacity, and in return we have club run the following week to give you the chance to run your own 10k. This is also
The club have a member only 5k time trial series throughout the summer, giving you the chance to set a time each month to try and improve on.
If you have any questions or queries, or would like to simply have a chat, please Get in touch with us to discuss everything further, or by all means come to one of the training sessions to meet with our coaches.
Juniors (aged 6yrs – 18yrs)
We welcome athletes of all abilities and support them to be the best that they can be. The benefits go far beyond fitness: junior athletes learn many skills that will help them throughout life, such as team work, resilience, self-belief and confidence, and they will have a lot of fun along the way.
Currently we have over 40 Juniors with the club, with sessions being lead by qualified coaches, specialising in junior coaching and athletic development, with the help from club members who have undertaken the Leadership in Running Fitness award, and without saying are all DBS checked.
Safeguarding - Everyone who takes part in athletics is entitled to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment. Thetford Athletics is committed to adopting and implementing the UKA policy document(s) regarding the safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults in athletics.
Help us - Parents - we need you. We want to deliver opportunities for all our junior athletes to better themselves both personally and physically. Please engage with us to see how you can help out.
